The area
The Bormida Valley is a quiet and sunny area, with gently sloping hills covered for the most part in vines and hazlenut groves. It lies between the busier region of Asti and Canelli, and the mountains of the Ligurian Appenines.
This part of Piemonte is renowned for its excellent cuisine and wines and there are many vineyards growing the popular Barbera, Dolcetto and Moscato grapes.
Visits can be made to most vineyards to sample and purchase good wines at excellent rates, and there are many wonderful restaurants within easy reach of La Casa Pietra serving local and Piemonte gastronomic specialities, such as truffles and Robiola cheeses.
